Joe,

     I have worked in a physics lab for the last 20 years without any
window to the outside world.  There are two windows that look out on
center court however we have bookshelves in front of them to keep
students from looking in and disturbing the lab students.  It also
helps to make the room dark when we have experiments that require a dark room.
     Ventilation has never been a real problem.  No windows in the
school open anyway and so there aren't any rooms that such windows.  In
the late spring is sometimes gets hot but having the door open with a
fan usually takes care of that problem.
     I don't have the problem with SADD.  I could think it could affect
you if you spend all day in such a place.  I do leave the lab however
and my classroom has 7 large windows so I get lots of light. (the
windows don't open)
     I know this isn't what you want to hear but at least you will know
you are not alone.
