In response to the recent dalogue about the egg dropping experiment, I wonder if a full and cler understanding of what is going on and which variables are important, what assumptions are made etc. is really the issue. I see the whole thing as a useful task where hypotheses can be evolved and tested which is after all the basis of scientific research and advancement. There are many examples in history of experiments which have been conducted and resulted in more questions than answers, some of which have taken many years to fully understand. I dont see a problem with this type of open ended research at any level in the educational spectrum. cheers tim
