<<As a general question, does anyone have comments on the best way or method to get results from quality improvement projects? Thanks Glenn Gee ggee@abcs.com>> The thumbnail version: 1) Assign a Champion of the team with skin involved in the outcome and who has authority over the area invovled. 2) Assign a team leader or facilitator familiar with the Quality Tools. 3) Assign a team composed mostly of individuals from the area affected, with a few from the upstream and downstream areas plus an outsider. 4) Have Senior Local Management (LSM) define the purpose (mission) of the team and the result and any business constraints. 5) Get a commitment from LSM to provide needed resources to implement the solutions. 6) Let the team go, with up front scheduled periodic reports to LSM. 7) Put a time limit on the team to resolve the issue, but be flexible on this in that once you start unravelling the web of issues around a problem, it may take longer to resolve than expected. If possible, lock the team up for a week away from management to resolve the problem. Robert Drensek , CQE, CQA, CRE Quality Engineer RNAV@AOL.COM
