Hello all :)

We are currently revising our quality system, which hasn't been updated in a few
years, to comply with ISO standards.

In almost all aspects of our business, we try to utilize a very team-oriented
philosophy of management/labor cooperation to address both work and managerial
issues. In practice, many decisions are made by a "steering commitee" composed
of both management and hourly personnel. This committee has management
membership which seldom changes, but the hourly representatives may change
annually. The following question has emerged:

"What are the implications of having both management and hourly members of this
committee sign and approve the Quality Manual? "

The ISO standard states ".. management with executive responsibility shall
define and document its policy for quality ...".

Are registriars likely to question the responsiblity of committee members who
are production employees once they leave the meeting? Also, are we setting up a
document control nightmare by having that many signatures on a required,
controlled document which may have to be re-approved every time one of the
hourly members is replaced?
