I use email lists to try to communicate to the people in a variety of
functions who may be involved with me to accomplish some project or manage
an employee problem or provide information, etc. It has been very useful.
The opportunity to talk directly with someone on phone and also face to face
is an issue I have not analyzed but think there are certain situations that
call for that environment. There is much information we pick up from voice
and even more from being able to see all the non verbal language. So if
communications are very personal it might actually be easier not to be face
to face depending on the personalities? but may not result in a full
understanding for eithe party.
I have had some real 'oopps we misunderstood each other' situations with
email.
