Mr. Bacal takes me to task for what I hope was a mere infelicity of
language on my part when he posted (it is worth noting that his response
arrived before my own posting.):

I did not mean to imply that MCAS scores, dolorimeter readings,
cleanliness or the degree of consumer preference for Fruit Loops(TM) over
Captain Crunch (TM) were the same or even equivalent. (Measuring my
height and my weight are also different kinds of measuring that yield a
rather embarrassing BMI)

I intended my remarks to mean only that these various attributes can be
quantified as opposed to the contrary position taken by another. Mr.
Bacal is certainly correct when he refers to such measurements as
"constructs" but then so are most measurements, e.g. from classical
physics we have only 4 basic units or measures: distance, time,
electrical charge and mass. All other measures are derived therefrom.
