Answering Christian, I don't know anything about KAPPA. I have read some reports a few years ago about very ambitious efforts to program large industrial simulations using SimKit. The results where a catastrophe. All the object oriented concepts were there, but the execution was so slow ( less than 10 events per second ) that the model appeared to stand still. In comparision SIMULA/DEMOS or SIMULA/Simulation execute thousands of events per second. Large industrial simulations ( 100 machining centers, 300 employees, 600 product types, and thousands of parts in the manufacturing process) will typically execute 2000 to 20000 times faster than real time. Converting SIMULA code to KAPPA might not be all that easy. There are some very powerful facilities in SIMULA, such as nested quasi-parallel systems which are not that easy to copy. Would be nice to see somebody try it and hear how it went. Henry Islo
