The good ole "friend of mine. . ." the most use source in all urban
legends.

While on a one year sabbatical to that funny little country that
doesn't exist anymore courtesy of my Uncle. I ended up in the 24th
Evac Hospital at Vhin Long. The ARC folks there were in a bad mood
the day I asked for a few things to help pass the day. I held your
opinion of them till. . .

Dallas had one apartment complex made uninhabitable by a F0 Tornado.
The ARC spent around $500,000 to give the folks a place to stay,
replace clothes and medicine and work related tools, all for free.
And that was just one incident of free service to diaster victims they
provided that year. The ARC is always willing to show up at home
fires, and apartment fires when requested by the Fire Department to
assist fire victims. AT NO COST TO THE VICTIMS.

I guess you opionion of the Red Cross is blurred by the lens you view
them through.
