A Catbunny on the Head is Worth....
(3 lemurs in a bush? 50 Zimas? Who knows? The Shadow Knows!!!)
By: Yvonne Bennett (with help from Gadge)
A light blue, old Datsun drove up Nerf Mountain to the door of the
Chapterhouse, and a young lady who appeared to be somewhere between 18 and 25
stepped out of the car. She smiled and snapped her fingers. Instantly, the
car turned into a small brown rabbit with very large ears. It exclaimed,
"Miya!" and hopped onto her head.
As she started walking towards the door, she paused to stare at a large
man in a business suit who was skipping down the hall and being followed by
a walrus.
She walked through the door, and blushed shyly as she noticed that
everyone was looking at her.
She sat down at the bar, and held her hand out in front of her as if she
were holding a bottle of some kind. A Zima bottle formed in her hand, but the
expression on her face as she sipped it told everyone that it was _not_ her
drink. "Water??? Darn."
When the authors noticed the Zima bottle, many gasped and gripped their
microbrews protectively. There was a quiet comment of "eeeeeeewwwww."
She tossed the bottle into the air and it disappeared. She then turned
to the rest of the authors, some of whom were staring at her intensly, some
still revolted at the sight of the Zima.
The girl smiled prettily. "Could one of you authors help me out? I want
to get a carrot juice for my friend..."
"Miya!"
"and I would like a Zima for myself. I haven't quite got this edit
business figured out yet."
The Man with Two First Names approached, holding his Yoo Hoo. "Didn't
they teach you how to use your inspiration dust in Muse school?"
The young woman looked up at him... "um, no, but he did," and she pointed
on top of her head. "My name is Yvonne, my muse here doesn't have a name,
yet."
The catbunny on her head miyad again, starting to get irritated since he
hadn't got his carrot juice yet, and he started reaching for Bill Paul's
Yoo-Hoo. He snagged it, and ate it. Bottle and all. The catbunny looked
slightly ill for a couple of moments, but then cleared out the taste, and
stared at Bill Paul as if to ask "You actually drink that stuff?" but what was
actually heard was an incredulous, and slighty revolted, "Miya??"
The Man looked at Yvonne, then at the catbunny, then at his now empty
hand, and scratched his head. "But if that is your muse, then that means...."
The whole Chapterhouse shouted, "A FEMALE AUTHOR!!!!!"
An unshaven man wearing nothing but a bathrobe looked up from his
breakfast of beer and rasin bran and promptly fell off his stool and
disappeared, startling Yvonne slightly. When she looked up, she realized that
everyone except the bartender had vanished, too.
"Where'd everybody go?" Yvonne looked around the empty pub, puzzled.
"Miya?" queried the Catbunny.
"They all Edited themselves back to their cabins," explained the
bartender, checking his watch while polishing a glass, "to make themselves
halfway presentable. They should be back in about five..... four.....
three..... two......."

Yvonne is suddenly lost in the onslaught of fully dressed, clean shaven
(except for the occasional cut) authors who were wearing too much calogne.
"Hey, wanna beer?"
"No, sorry, beer makes me gag."
"How about some Yoo-Hoo."
"I think I'll pass on that for a while..."
"You said you wanted a Zima right?"
"Yeah."
"Ewwww. Are you _sure_ you wanted a Zima?"
"YES, I'm sure!"
"Okay, okay, you don't have to shout."
"Have you changed your opinion of Yoo-Hoo yet?"
"NO!"
"How about some pretzels?"
"Is that really your muse?"
"MIYA!"
"carrot juice, coming up."
"Here's your (yech!) Zima."
etc.etc.etc.
After the dust cleared, Yvonne was sitting at a table with a group of
authors not involved in the Industrial Revolution, activily avoiding the I.R.
authors as they were way too highly strung on caffeine and aspirin. She had
about fifty bottles of Zima, and she took an occasional zip every once in a
while, as she tried to keep up with converzations.
Her catbunny had left. Presumably, he had hopped upstairs to check out
his new quarters on the Muse deck.
The New Author Has Arrived
don't be afraid, I don't bite...
well, maybe if you ask _real_ nice...
