The "MODE B" command is necessary, because MODULE files are binary files with
a special structure, which you seem to have destroyed in your endeavours.
Rather than trying to analyze the failure, why don't you either:
- send E-mail from the VM/CMS account to 'BITFTP@PUCC',
putting 'HELP' into the "Subject:" line. I assume that your VM/CMS
host is **directly** connected to BITNET! The BITFTP server can be
told to perform the FTP for you, and then will use SENDFILE to transmit
the MODULE file directly to you.
- get the file 'VMARC DISKDUMP' from 'KSUVM.KSU.EDU'.
It is a binary file, with RECFM=F, and LRECL=80.
When you get it to your VM/CMS account, enter 'CP SPOOL PUNCH TO *',
and 'PUNCH VMARC DISKDUMP (NOH', and then use 'RECEIVE' (which will
invoke 'DISK LOAD') to reconstitute the file.
Still, if you do manage to get a working 'VMARC MODULE',
I think that you're probably going to run into the same problems
with garbling of each VMARC'd file.
P.S. Since this has nothing to do with "REXX, the programming language",
please direct follow-ups to 'VMKIDS-L@UBVM' or 'CMSUG-L@NDSUVM1'.
