Any time you save anything for any other platform, it can
be a real crap shoot, especially if you have done any
kind of formatting at all before saving in the other
format. My suggestion would be to save the Mac Word 5.1
document first as text only, then save it as text only
the other operating system. This way you still have an
original in Mac Word 5.1 with formatting, a text only Mac
Word 5.1, and a whatever text only file. Then any PC
word processor worth its salt should be able to open up
the text only non-Mac version. Only when a decision has
been made as to which version will be used for the final
output should any (I repeat) any formatting be done.
Believe me, I know whereof I speak, having worked for a
desktop publisher ... do your formatting last. That way,
should you decide to do the final output on a Mac, you
will not have wasted precious time formatting on another
machine, only to have things go awry when you bring your
work back up on a different machine. Hope this helps.
