Here are the consolidated answers to my original question: > Is "I18N" a registered trademark (or anything else that would > get me into trouble if I used it)? Jeff INSOFT-L List Manager *========================================================================* Jeff Bowyer EMail: Computing Center jbowyer@cis.vutbr.cz Technical University of Brno Udolni 19, 602 00 BRNO Czech Republic *========================================================================* Sender: Paul Kenneth Deuter (pdeuter@netcom.com) Subject: Re: Registered Trademark? I doubt it. If I18N is a registered trademark, then there are an awful lot of people who owe somebody money. It is used at every company I have ever known about: Microsoft, Unisys, IBM, Novell, DEC, Frame Tech., Sun .... Hey! Let's try to trademark it and we'll get rich! :-) Sender: Tony Hansen (hansen@pegasus.ATT.COM) < You are invited to submit papers for _I18N_, a journal of the Association < for the Internationalization of Computing Resources. I hope they don't try to trademark the abbreviation "i18n". That would be a real shame, and likely to introduce confusion in the field. I can just see it now: "What's i18n?" "It's an abbreviation for internationalization." "No, no, no. It's the name of the journal of the AICR."
