Our lab (CLRC Daresbury Laboratory) provides X-rays and UV light from an 
electron storage ring (a form of particle accelerator) that are used in 
many varied experiments. If you ask the lab PR people, I'm sure they'll 
be able to send you a copy of the annual report, which gives a flavour of 
what research our users do. The report should also be available from our 
WWW site at http://www.clrc.ac.uk/
