Hello,
I have to manage table ranges in an access97 db. As I am newbie, I�d like to
know, if I have to do everything "by hand" or if there are components in
BCB5 (enterprise), that I can use.

What I have is a table with data records numerated from 00000 to 99999. Each
record represents for example a product of a shopping center to sell. The
table is divided into ranges, these represent the different main groups of
products, for example clothing, food and cleaning articles.
The main groups are again devided into sub groups, say in the cloting main
group there is trousers, shirts and so on and in the main group food there
are sub groups like bread, vegetable, a.s.o.

Some ranges, say from 01000 to 02000 and from 05000 to 10200 are "FREE".
That means they do not actually contain data, but are reserved for a fixed
main group and/or sub group.

What I have to do is now give the user a simple (BCB5) tool to :

- add, remove, edit and show main groups, sub groups and product entries
- the ranges, that are actually defined should be seen on the screen, that
is the user
  should easily recognize, which ranges he/she has

1) Which BCB5 components would you use for it ?
     (a TreeView would show the hierarchy of the main and sub groups and I
also could use a branch as a range, but the dbgrid component would be better
for the data editinig)

2) Does it make a difference in the access code, if I build only 1 Access
table with all data (and free ranges) or to build linked tables, which
represent the hierarchy ?
