Sorry, I forgot something to mention, that is important:

there should be an automatic control about the ranges, which the user should
be able to change (delete, then they will become FREE ranges, make new
ranges out of FREE ranges and change the name and the size of the range).

With that control, the user cannot produce overlapped ranges.
