Hi, I downloaded Turbo C++ Explorer and tried to port my app (originally working under BCB6) to TC++Explorer. Firstly, the TSQLConnection in TC++E is working, connecting to my MySQL database without complaints. Then I dropped a TSQLDataSet and set the CommandType to ctTable. When I clicked on the CommandText property to select a table, nothing happened. There is no list of Tables for me to select as it's supposed to have. So I changed the command type to ctQuery and clicked the CommandText, I was show a dialog where the name of my database is shown correctly in the Schema Name, but there is not list of Tables or Fields, they are empty! I ignored the problem and go ahead typed in "SELECT * FROM classlist" in the SQL box and try to ativate it. All I get is "dbExpress Error:[0x0003]: Invalid Field Type". What gives? I tried with all other dbExpress components, the results are the same. However, my original app, which is done in BCB6 works without any fuss. Why is the supposedly newer (or even if they never fixed or update the components since BCB6 - they are supposed to behave in the same way) dbExpress in TC++E act worse than those already 4 or 5 years old ones in BCB6? MySQL server version 4.0.20 (Appserv 5.2.1) -- I Feel Good!

As far as I remember it had something to do with different versions of libmysql.dll. Probably you have installed (once) a newer version of mysql and TC++ tries to use that version of libmysql.dll. Do a search on your computer for all versions of libmysql.dll to be sure that TC++ gets the right one. I am using mysql 4.0.24 and everything works fine. Yours, Herwig

I'm am now able to access the database, but now I have another problem - I know it's not related to this newsgroup, but I'll just try to get any advice I could - Now my PHPMyAdmin won't start. It says problem about the MySQL extention or something like that. Is the way I handle the replacement of the file (copy and past in to System32)correct? Is there any other way that will not cause problem to PHPMyAdmin? Regards, KW
