Attempting to set dataset "Active" properties in App. Server

Help!

I have converted a 2 Tier app. to a 3 Tier app. and have moved most of
the business logic to the app. srvr. I have 3 table components in the
server's remote data module. I call a srvr. startup method from the
client using the dispatch interface. The startup method in turn calls
methods of the app. srvr. form object which do the actual work.

The srvr. form methods need to "open" the table dataset objects as well
as read from and write to these objects. The problem is that when I
attempt to set the "Active" properties to true, an exception is thrown
that I can trap with try/catch, but can't see when I don't use
try/catch.

I have the header file for the server's implementation object included
in the form, etc. The code compiles and links without warnings or
errors, and everything runs normally until I attempt to
do something to the table objects. As far as I can tell, the approach
I'm using parallels the approach I would use if I were using client
datasets in the client's data module. I fact I had it set up that way
and it worked fine.

The reason for stashing the logic in the app. server is that eventually,
the client app. will become an NT service and I want to keep it small.
I can also decrease network traffic considerably.

Hope someone out there can enlighten me.

Regards,
John
