Ajay, Maybe one or more of the RPC services on your work station and/or file server needs to be started. It's also possible that running DCOMCNFG.EXE on either or both machines to set connection parameters and the like might be helpful. I've just started converting my apps. from BCB4 to BCB5, so I'm no expert. However, my BCB4 apps. all use socket connections which don't work with BCB5 even though I have rebuilt one of the apps. and am using the socket server supplied with BCB5. So what I've done is to build the Adhoc project in \Examples\Midas which uses a DCOM connection and calls three methods on the app. server through its dispatch interface. I have no trouble seeing the remote provider name for the client dataset, and the app. runs as advertised until I use a socket connection. Perhaps if you build this app. as well, and it works, you might be able to figure out why your app. does not. If it doesn't work for you, but it works for me, there must be something amiss which is external to the application. Hope this helps a little.
