I am looking for the best way to handle time zones. The database has date/time. in GMT. The client may be in any timezone when retrieving a schedule. The schedule may be viewed using their local time or viewed using another time zone. I was thinking of doing a conversion on the server side but the client side knows the zone.

I had this exact issue. I store the times GMT on the server, and I built a light-weight COM object for the client that handles Time Zone conversions to/from any Time Zone. I use TADO... classes on the client, so I wrote event handlers for the date field TField decendants that returns the converted values to grids, reports, web pages, etc... Hi, > I am looking for the best way to handle time zones. What Database are you using? I think Oracle (9i) already offers several functions to handle this problem. Thomas

I am using Access and MS SQL Server. Oracle is for the future.
