Only 100's? That is nothing for a normal server to handle. You can just
spawn a new thread for each connection and use normal (non-overlapped)
blocking operations. That won't tax system resources very much, especially
if you utilize adequate thread pooling. If you are woried about so many
threads running at a time, you can trim it down a bit by using fibers with
the threads (a fiber is an application-scheduled psudo-thread - a single
thread can be used to manage multiple fibers, which in turn can each service
a single socket). Overlapped I/O only makes sense for sockets when you need
to handle 1000's of connections at a time.
