Hello Indy team, I'm using the component TIdIMAP4 but it does not seem to work with all servers (or the server does not work correctly - I'm not sure). I have captured the data traffic from both servers: Does not work (server #1): ---------------------------- C15 UID FETCH 1 (FLAGS) * 1 FETCH (UID 1 FLAGS (\Seen)) Does work (server #2): ------------------------ C39 UID FETCH 5 (FLAGS) * 2 FETCH (FLAGS (\Seen) UID 5) No errors, but: TIdIMAP4 does not recognize that the mail was read (the TIdMessageFlagsSet does NOT contain "mfSeen"!). The first server writes the parameter "\Seen" at the end. Is that a server error or is the server not RFC conformal? Please excuse my bad English..

You said TIdSMP, not TIdIMAP4. > but it does not seem to work with all servers IMAP4 is a bastardized protocol. There is little consistency in it, especially between different servers. Different servers implement various commands slightly differently from each other. Indy does its best to support all of the variations that are encountered, but there are still problems from time to time. > Does not work (server #1): TIdMAP4 does not support that response syntax. > Does work (server #2): TIdIMAP4 does support that response syntax. > Is that a server error or is the server not RFC conformal? The RFCs are not strict enough on the contents of IMAP4 responses. That is why IMAP4 is so hard to implement. Gambit

Ok, thanks for the info! > Check your Subject. You said TIdSMP, not TIdIMAP4. Sorry, I meant TIdIMAP4 - not TIdSMTP.
