I use TClientSocket and TServerSocket components on my BCB applications to build a simple client/server systems. It works fine and Client and server talks to each other on my small LAN behind my router. Computers attached to the router has 192.168.2.* adr. My router is attached to a cable modem. How can I access my server application from internet ?

The client on the internet should use the internet ipaddress of the router and the port your server is listening on. Then you should configure your router in such a way that it forwards that specific port. It should translate/forward messages for internetip:port to localip:port. This is also called NAT Netword Address Transslation. Hans.

A client needs to connect to the router's public IP address (the IP used by the cable modem), and then the router has to be configured to perform port forwarding so that all traffic arriving on a given port(s) on the router are forwarded to the appropriate machine on the LAN.
