Hello... Maybe off topic, but people on cppbuilder groups are very clever and experienced someone may have an answer for this prob. My acer Aspire 3000 laptop (XP SP 2) has performed great, but in the last few days has been playing every sound source I have tried in a lower pitch than normal. This includes streaming radio from the net, wav files from the hard drive, and cd's!! Device Manager reports everything ok. I have tried changing sound acceleration and sampling rate depth in, with no change. Any thoughts appreciated. You maybe can imagine how bad "A Whiter Shade of Pale" sounds. Not to mention "God Save the (insert Monarch of Choice). Leigh

Reboot the PC so it rediscovers them, reinstalls them, and cleans up whatever registry settings are making it sound slow. -- Mark Jacobs DK Computing http://www.dkcomputing.co.uk

Thanks Mark, I've put off doing that as it is still under warranty, and I only have fuul system restore disks, not seperate drivers for the motherboard sound system (Realtek AC'97). I still may need to though. Appreciate your advice. I had a similar problem because I was looking for something else but I can't remember what However I changed something in the "Sound Effect Manager" and it had the effect that you describe. In Control Panel->Sound Effect Manager->Sound Effect tab I have "Environment" set to "none" and "Karaoke->KEY" set to +0 Tony "Leigh Milne" <lmilne@adelaide.on.net> wrote in message news:440d946d@newsgroups.borland.com... > Hello... > > Maybe off topic, but people on cppbuilder groups are very clever and experienced someone may have an > answer for this prob. > > My acer Aspire 3000 laptop (XP SP 2) has performed great, but in the last few days has been playing > every sound source I have tried in a lower pitch than normal. I've got AC97 sound on my office PC and the Karaoke section is amazing. Change the pitch and mask vocals - wow! Never seen that before. -- Mark Jacobs DK Computing http://www.dkcomputing.co.uk
