Yes, Ed, I'm calling the original window procedure with CallWindowProc. Anyway, I was wrong, the problem of the outline drawing didn't have any relationship with the call to BeginPaint/EdnPaint. The outline is not drawn when I don't call CallWindowProc from the WM_PAINT handler (here is another problem : message crackers don't make it possible to call the window procedure from the handler). Though, as you said, the outline should be drawn in response to a WM_NCPAINT message ! I'm confused... You're correct, the problem I'm facing is a failure in the painting of a static text control in response to a SetWindowText. It's enough to hide the application window with another one then activate it again to see the labels properly displayed... Though, the group box justs receives another WM_PAINT message, so it should display the very same thing... Indeed, it's strange. Best regards, Mark
