Just to make sure I got it. 1) I have to set all parameters in the registry in order to tell the OS that there might be a dll (if currently registered) that the shell has to use. 2) if I want the shell to display my own extensions/menus I have to register the dll (e.g. using REGSVR32) is that right? If now used any more and the dll is unregistered, does MS RegClean delete all unused entries in the registry or should I delete them if not necessary any more? Is there a BCB component that can set/delete all the necessary entries in the registry (BCB6.0)? thanks a lot. you are really a great help nik
