BTW, in my earlier reply, I listed a bunch of Int 21h functions for you.
Interrupt 21h Function 440Dh Minor Code 4Bh was for locking the entire hard
drive (a "physical volume").  Individual drive letters, aka partitions, are
"logical volumes" handled by Interrupt 21h Function 440Dh Minor Code 4Ah
instead.  Interrupt 13h is then used for the actual writing of the drive
data once you have obtained the appropriate locks.
