(BCB6+Upd4) Will there be potential issues with (VCL)applications, sucessfull running on WinXP (and Windows Vista 32), when running on Windows Vista 64-bits edition? Thanks in advance, Wiebe

So far my company's BCB6-built applications run fine on 64 bit 2003 Server and Vista with the default compatibility mode. The only problem we've come across so far has been with Oracle OLEDB. When our application files exist beneath "C:\Program Files (x86)" then Oracle ADO connections won't work. Simply moving our application to "C:\Program Files" or *anywhere* else on the hard drive would allow our application to function correctly with the Oracle ADO connection. We haven't investigated beyond that to determine where in this process things are breaking down. HTH, Clayton

Setting aside feelings about Vista UAC -- BCB6 apps are able to take advantage of the manifest file injection necessary to properly inform Vista of the access rights a program requires during its lifetime. Usually setting up a program to function "asInvoker" or "requireAdministrator" is enough. If temporary administrative access is required the same techniques that modern compilers use can be used in BCB6 as well (though I haven't done them yet since I haven't had a need to). Clayton
