Hello I have enabled ClearType on my notebook and noticed that apps compiled with vs.net render text using ClearType smoothing. BCB6 apps don't use ClearType although I use the same font as in vs.net. Are there any extra steps required to make BCB render text using ClearType? Thanks

Borland does not natively support ClearType. However, according to MSDN, it
should be just a matter of calling SystemParametersInfo() to enable it. See
the following URL for details:
ClearType Antialiasing

Thanks but I had already tried that with no success. I think this is suppossed to change the system-wide settings for font smoothing. Strangely if smoothing is disabled in the display properties these calls will only enable the standard smoothing and not cleartype. If cleartype is already enabled I can see no change. I searched a bit on google and found that MS Sans Serif doesn't work with ClearType however in vs.net it seems to work. So I tried Tahoma and it looks really nice. Remy/Gambit, I mean this with all admiration. How do you know about ALL these things? It seems that every time someone asks a technical question you know the answer, and they are across such a wide range of topics. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do to pay the bills? How did you get such a wide range of knowledge? Oh, and also another "thank you" for this response about ClearType and for about a thousand other answers to others questions that I have found useful. Really, I'm not trying to kiss your a**. Sincerely, thank you for sharing your incredible knowledge and your no doubt very valuable time to help us all. Knowledge is not just about retaining facts in one's head. It's also a matter of simply knowing where to look for the answers when you don't already have them on-hand. In this case, I refer to the VCL source code, to MSDN, to newsgroup archives, etc. when needed. They contain much more information then my otherwise short memory could ever hope to hold at a time. > It seems that every time someone asks a technical question you > know the answer, and they are across such a wide range of > topics. But the knowledge I bring to these groups does not come from my job. If anything, it comes from my hobby instead - I'm also a hobbyist programmer :-) Gambit
