Hi all, this is purely a conceptual question as the thought went through my head today. I've got a MDI application that is use to manage a product of ours. It facilitates things like live updates, language independence features etc. On aspect is compiling and uploading our live updates to our web server. Currently i have a button and some code that does a ShellExecEx to launch WinSCP and allow access, via SFTP to out webserver. Works fine and i'm completely happy with it, but just out of interest, is there anyway to launch an external application and then make it appear as if it is embedded either with in a child form or a panel? WinSCP is written in C++Builder so i'm assuming it does not support any automation technologies such as DDE or COM - again, this is just out of interest. Many thanks, Mike C

This is a conceptual response: Wouldn't you want to create a structure in your application that uses the data and have your server send these structure packets over the network? Your application could do whatever it wanted with the data: spawn a child form, populate a panel, etc. Did I misunderstand the question?

thanks for the reply - maybe i didn't explain myself very well. This was a conceptual question, as in i don't really have any intention of doing it, just wanted to know if it is possible. My example was just that - an example. My management application works fine for us, i could code my own SFTP communications or use the code from WinSCP if i really had the time or the need - which i don't; the point of the management suite is to speed up the mundane day-to-day tasks. What i wanted to know, is, is it possible to embed an Win32 application into my own application - a bit like when you use the OLEContainer VCL. For example, you can spawn a TForm then assign it's parent to a panel and it will, in effect, become embedded within that panel - i just wanted to know if that sort of thing is possible with whole application, that do not support automation. It's purely out of interest.
