Hi I need to use postmessage to send a sequence of messages to a window outside of my app. I cannot use sendmessage but I do need to wait for the window to finish processing this sequence before my app can continue. Is there some way of being notified or being able to query the window to determine when it has finished processessing them all? Cheers Chris

Perhaps this line needs a little more explanation. Why can't you use SendMessage()? - Clayton

Then you should be using SendMessage(). > Is there some way of being notified or being able to query the > window to determine when it has finished processessing them all? The only way to get any kind of notification for posted messages is if you use a named event via CreateEvent(). Your app can reset the event, post the messages, and then wait for the event to be signalled. The other app can then open and signal the event when the messages have been processed. Of course, that means that the other app has to know to work with your event in the first place. If it is not, then there is nothing you can do to wait on posted messages. Gambit
