I eventually got my app to work by opening a new project and adding the 
files one by one to it. I tried the same thing with a second project but 
when adding the 5th file I'm back to the "Unable to open file STLPMT.LIB" 
linker error.  The strange thing is, the file that causes the error has 
almost identical #includes and #pragmas as the 4th file which caused no 
linker error. They differ only in that the 5th file has a line

#include <values.h>

in it. The only other difference is that the class defined in the 5th file 
is derived from the class defined in the 4th file.

Does any of this give a clue as to where the need for this non existent 
STLPMT.LIB comes from?
