Thanks for the response.

Both my service providers seem to be having trouble with connections to
the States, although they report that it's an IP address in the States
that's causing the bottleneck.

BTW, ftpsearch.lycos.com listed several, probably unofficial, mirror
sites, one of which has given me a fast connection - I'm back in
business!
