I'm using Interbase 6.0.2.0 on Win2000 Professional and I'm having difficulty getting the fractional part of a second to a timestamp type database field.
The manual states that the insert syntax YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS:thou should work but when I try:
INSERT INTO "TBLTEST" ("STARTTIME", "ENDTIME") VALUES ('2005-03-02 02:02:02.1234', '03:03:03.1234');
the fractional part is left out. When I try to insert the fractional part manually using IBConsole, I get a warning saying that the ' is not a valid date and time'.
Is this a bug in IB6 or is my syntax incorrect?
//TEST TABLE METADATA
CREATE TABLE "TBLTEST"
(
"STARTTIME" TIMESTAMP NOT NULL,
"ENDTIME" TIME NOT NULL
);

There are historical reasons for this, and there's a QC request open to add the feature, but for the time being you really have to store milliseconds in a different way. -- Craig Stuntz [TeamB] .
