Hello,

I am using InterBase 6 with my JBuilder 5 GUI. I have
created my database structure using isql. I want to
automatically generate a number in two separate tables.
However I don't want this number to be equal to each
other increasing at the same rate so I intend to start the
second generator at 100.

==> This Generator was created, no error messages
CREATE GENERATOR GENERATOR_DICTID;
and subsequently activated inside of an insert trigger.

==> When I type following in the isql:
CREATE GENERATOR GENERATOR_SUGGESTID;

==> I receive this error message:
Unsuccessful metadata update
DEFINE GENERATOR failed
attempt to store duplicate value
(visible to active transactions) in
unique index "RDB$INDEX_11"
Statement: CREATE GENERATOR
GENERATOR_SUGGESTID

So I am not sure if a database can only have one generator
operating on the value of one column in a nominated table?

I would very much appreciate feedback on this.
