I'm trying to write an HTTP client application and I don't understand something about how the HTTP support in the JDK is meant to be used. It appears to me that all of the JDK's support for HTTP is in the URL and URLConnection classes. However, it also appears that URLConnection only sends data through the POST message. (Actually I found a method for selecting other message types, but it's protected.) If I need to send a GET message, how do I do it? I wondered if the class library designers simply chose to implement POST and ignore GET, but that doesn't make sense. METHOD=POST or GET is one of the basic parameters of <FORM>. If <FORM> says METHOD=GET, the client had better be able to do a GET! Send email to jsachs177 at earthlink dot net.
