Hi ,
I have an application where I have implemented RMI callback.
The client, register a callback by calling registerForCallback(this)
In the server, invoke a method on the callback remote reference
passed in to 'register'.
This works fine when there is a DNS entry, so that hostname<->ipaddress
can be resolved easily.
But this does not seem to work when we want to work only with ip
address.
In this case the server and client machines can NOT PING each other
using host names.
But they CAN PING each other using ip addresses.
It looks like when I call registerForCallback(this) from the client,
the server gets the "HOSTNAME instead of ipaddress. Since the hostname
cannot
be resolved from the server RMI connections do not work.
here is the output for the System.out.println statement
public boolean registerForCallback(TrapRegisterNotify obj)
{
System.err.println("\nServerImplr::registerForCallback =" +
obj);
notifyTable.addElement(obj);
return true;
}
ServerImplr::registerForCallback =com.micom.nms.nextgen.vip.client.trap.

magalab is the hostname of the client.
Can you please give me pointers to this problem ?
Thanks much,
Maga.
