deaf keyListener???

I'm having what will probably be a simple mistake on mine and jbuilders
part. I am trying to get a response from a simple keyListener object. I
had problems in my project, so I set up a simple test applet that would only
recognize a keyTyped callback. I set it up correctly and it did not
recognize any keys being pressed. So, I simplified it even more:

1) I started a new project.
2) I used the wizard to create a new applet
3) I went to the design tab, changed the inspector to events, and
    double-clicked in the keyTyped event.
4) Added the code for a simple System.out.println in the keyTyped
    callback.

This is as simple as it gets and Jbuilder put it together and it STILL DID
NOT work....I looked for information, and everything made it look as if I
was doing everything right.

I have JBuilder professional with the new patch.

If you have any info that can help me then I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Charles
