Some businesses configure their firewalls to block access to external 
POP servers, because they don't want their employees reading personal 
email at work.  Are you able to check your mail from work using a 
different program?  Try "telnet host.domain.com 110" to see if you can 
connect at all to the POP server.  It may not be your program's problem 
at all.
