running applets with Netscape version in Jbuilder C/S

I have the Gold CD, Jbuilder C/S, which has a version of Netscape on it.

Simple Applets (that use AWT or JBCL) do not run for me on this version.
Do I need to download
the 3MB Netscape patch? If so, why was this version of Netscape included
on the CD?

Or should it work after all?
