I'm guessing that if you've got "mission critical apps" already running, then they must have been built with VdB 5.5a I'm not used to working with non-DBF tables directly, but I've got the VdB5.5 (upgraded to 5.5a) Client/Server, running under WFW 3.11. It looks rather like we won't be upgrading to NT (which rules out VdB7) for a year or two, but I'd love to access the AS/400 through a less kludgy process than my current download / import .csv file method. We're using Netsoft emulation and file transfer, through a "gateway" (if that's the alternative to TCP/IP). My specific questions (I guess) are : ? How do I configure the BDE to use Netsoft's ODBC ? or CA/400's ? Presumably when we crack that, it's similar to the other external tables (Oracle etc.). The BDE seems to want me to put in an ODBC_ prefix for the driver (if I remember aright) Or am I looking in the wrong place altogether ? ? What is the name of the Netsoft ODBC driver (I couldn't find it in the Help) ? Is there anything we need to do on the AS/400 to configure it ? ? Is there anything I've missed <g> ? I'm sorry if I'm repeating anything obvious; I haven't even "lurked" this newsgroup until now .. Thanks, Andy
