No download required, VdB7 programs will run directly against > DB2 on the server." Unless there has been a very recent change that I'm unaware of, I'm afraid the statement was incorrect. The DB2 drivers are for "real" DB2, not DB2/400, which is a different animal, as you might already know. When at Borland for the annual picnic several weeks back I asked specifically about native AS/400 support, and the answer was no, or perhaps not at this time. I don't want to put words in anyones' mouths inadvertantly! > Pardon my ignorance but does anything special have to set up on the > AS/400 for either method? Assuming the network interface on the AS/400 is setup, ODBC is handled entirely through the router on the client side, so there's nothing special to be done on the AS/400 itself. > They are using client access I believe. The CA/400 ODBC driver works fine. The underlying transport can have an effect on performance, of course. Do you know how the connection to the AS/400 is made? 802.2, SNA gateway, native TCP/IP, Twinax, etc.? I use 802.2 with NetSoft's router (both their OEM version and the IBM-licensed one). kgc
