This system is almost a year old, and has been lightly used. During this
time, it has been running AT&T's SystemV/386 UNIX and DOS. My reason for
selling is that my office recently switched from IBM PCs to Macintoshes.
All manuals, cables, etc. are included. I'd prefer to sell it as a unit,
though I'm willing to split it up if I get buyers for everything. I'd also
prefer to sell locally.
Disk and Controller $715
4-port Serial Card $110
"Stripped" Computer $600
------
-$100
Entire computer $1,325
Disk and Controller
===================
- Maxtor XT4380E disk
330MB (formatted) ESDI, 16ms avg. access, 10Mbps transfer rate,
150,000 hour MTBF rating, 5.25" full height
- Western Digital WD1007V ESDI controller
Supports 2 ESDI drives and 2 floppies. Works with AT&T UNIX.
4-port Serial Card
==================
- AST Four Port serial card
High-quality card with four National Semiconductor NS16550AFN UARTs
installed. Includes cable. This is the card the FAS driver was
originally written for.
"Stripped" Computer
===================
- 386/25 Motherboard w/64k cache
Four 1MB SIMMs installed; has AMI BIOS; made in Taiwan by Corrado.
- Relisys SVGA monitor
Made in California, .28 dot pitch, 1024x768 pixels, interlaced.
- Tseng Labs 3000 SVGA card w/1MB
Faster than cards with the common Trident chipset.
- Northgate keyboard
Highly-regarded 101-key keyboard with mechanical keyclick.
- Microsoft bus mouse
This is the older beige model with both buttons raised; long cord.
- 1.2MB 5.25" Teac floppy drive
- 1.44MB 3.5" Chinon floppy drive
Works under AT&T UNIX; several brands of 3.5" floppy drives don't.
- Mini-tower case
A well-built case with two fans; everything inside stays cool.
Known caveats:
- The 386 chip is rated at 16Mhz, but works flawlessly at 25Mhz.
- The 7-segment LED speed indicator on the front of the case doesn't work.
- None of the cards in the computer has a parallel port, but I would be happy
to add one for the cost of the card.
