I repeat. I think bikes are a great transportation mode for *some* people. These people are typically physically fit, live relatively close to work, don't have schedules that have them meeting people away from their workplace, and probably don't have kids. *Personally*, I can't imagine biking to work. I used to bike to campus a while back and it was a royal pain. It was only a few miles, but over some nasty hills. Also it simply was not practical when the weather got bad. Snow, wind, rain (yes rain), heat where reasons that biking didn't work for me. I was very happy when I scrapped together enough money to buy a car to get to campus. My life improved a lot! > I get tired of this argument. People who don't want to bicycle even > under perfect conditions invent reasons why it's impossible in less > than perfect conditions. If you don't want to bicycle, > don't, but don't tell me it's impossible when I do it quite easily > every day, and so do many of my friends. I'm sorry you're tired of this argument, but I expect you will continue to hear it over and over again. We are not saying it's impossible, if you and your friends want to use your bikes as commuting vehicles I don't have any problem with that. But me and my friends have made a different choice. -- Michael Peirce -- peirce@outpost.SF-Bay.org -- Peirce Software -- Suite 301, 719 Hibiscus Place -- Makers of... -- San Jose, California USA 95117 -- -- voice: (408) 244-6554 fax: (408) 244-6882 -- SMOOTHIE -- AppleLink: peirce & America Online: AFC Peirce
