OK, electronic ballasts.  There remains one problem.  For reading, I
ordinarily use 150 watt incandescent bulbs.  Peter Kaminski mentions
fluorescents equivalent to 60 watt bulbs.  This is not bright enough
for me.  This is probably related to loss of sensitivity with age.
