No there are plenty who feel the same. No one will force you to operate a bicycle on a freeway, and no one should try to forbid me to use a shoulder to bike in. >When I bike to work, I always take the quiet residential streets >rather than risk my life and lungs on a busy freeway with a bike lane. >I think we should put bike paths along all rivers/creeks. Guadalupe, >Calabasaz, etc. should have bike paths as nice as Los Gatos Creek Park. The above post reminds me of smokers who complain that no one stands up for smokers' rights when in fact the tobacco industry spends many hundreds of million dollars every year doing just that. Almost everywhere various agencies are inclined to build meandering paths from and to nowhere in particular and believing that takes care of bicycle transportation needs. Anyone who finds these paths useful is welcome to them, but please don't use superstitious ignorence to try to deny me the safest, most convenient, and quickest way to get to work that I have been using for 20 years. I would like to bike to work on a wide, well laid out path along a river. I'm sure most automobile commuters would like to commute on the equivalent of I280 on an early Sunday morning. It's not going to happen any time soon. -- John P. Serafin | Operating a bicycle is more like driving than riding. jps@netcom.com | Operating an automobile is more like riding than driving.
