1911 problem?

Gunners,

I picked up a 1911 project gun a while back. I have been working
on it and it is about all refinished, and fixed up except for one
problem. The problem is that the hammer will not fall if the slide
cocks the hammer (unless you apply pressure on the hammer pulling it
even farther than a full cock). The hammer will fall if the hammer is
cocked manually (basically if the disconnector is pushed down as the
hammer is being cocked it will not fall with the pull of the trigger).
I replaced the sear spring (but not the sear, since it look
descent), could the problem be a bad sear?
The sear looks okay, it does look a little worn, and not perfectly
square on some corners. Also when manually cocked to the half-cock
notch, if the trigger is pulled the hammer will fall. I do not believe
that it originally did this before I stripped the entire gun down to its
frame to work on the finish. I did run a dremel tooled wire brush over
the sear to clean it up before I put it back in, could this have damaged
the sear? Or am I just missing something obvious (or something else)
with my project gun? Thanks gunners.
