Chad:

You can replace the sear spring yourself, the best one I can recommend is
made by Clarke and can be purchased from Brownells, they are on the web.

The take down procedure is really simple and suggest you obtain a copy of
the 1911 takedown and owners manual from the NRA, this will save you some
real bucks. If you have it done by a gunsmith, you are looking at a cool
$50.00 plus parts. The sear spring is about $8.00 if infact it needs
replacement.

I believe the Sear Spring needs to be replaced
(could I be correct in this assumption?), the grip safety does not seem
to have any tension to push out properly.

Take it to a Good Gunsmith and He'll know what it is.))
