I posted a query a few days ago about my tinted windows and the ticket
I got, etc.
I called CHP in San Jose, and they were nice enough to read me the
vehicle code. It goes something like this:
No vehicle shall have any substance affixed or applied to
the front side windows. (This apprarently includes those
little stick-on shades). The only exception is FACTORY
INSTALLED tinting (i.e., the tinting is INSIDE the glass).
The logic is that it obstructs and/or reduces your vision.
The fee for fixing it (and ANY FIX-IT TICKET) as of January, 1992 is
$10 (not $2 anymore, but 10 smackers!)
Sigh.... I don't know if there's any way around this! I considered taking
the tinting off and putting it back on later, but if CHP is cracking down
on this new "collectible," chances are I'll just get another ticket
later. I'm still taking suggestions, if anyone else has beaten this
"rap." And I thank those of you who have already responded.
