Before you attend a Givens seminar, pick up his book "More Wealth 
Without Risk." I just bought it and read it over the holidays. The
book has already saved me money! 

The book is currently on the NYT best seller list, so it's 30-40% 
off at places like Crowne and BookStar. My copy cost $14.00.

The book is divided into three sections. Part I, Personal Finance, which
deals with getting your credit profile in order--advice I didn't need;
reducing your insurance costs and how to avoid scams; and how to 
save money--more advice I didn't need. Part 2 deals with starting
a business and different tax shelters you have as a home owner (all
advice I will need shortly.) The third part was by far the most valuable
to me. It is called Powerful Investment Strategies and talks about
Mutual Fund investing, retirement accounts, self-directed annuities,
real estate, etc. This part of the book is extremely valuable if you
are a novice at investing your money, as I was.

I don't know if I'd attend a seminar. I learn best by reading. I also
ordered a whole slew of IRS publications that people on misc.taxes
and Givens recommended. These too are very valuable--and free (well,
your tax dollars pay for them, so you might as well benefit!)
