This should allow us to devote most of the meeting to Q & A. My old philosophy professor Karsten Harries distinguished himself for his jolly disposition, alert mind and particularly for his rigorous adherence to the principle of staying at student parties until all the beer had been drunk. Saint that he was, he guzzled our Budweiser with a smile. In the name of aesthetic progress should we get _gem"utlich_ at a second location, I venture to suggest Spaten Optimator or something close to it. Compensation: At a minimum I require that the host cover my round-trip expenses. From well established groups I expect their prevailing rate for speakers. Since I am now trying to launch this career, I am quite open to good faith negotiations with any interested party whomsoever. I am currently free Wednesday through Friday, and at a higher rate anytime. I access my e-mail about once weekly. My 7/24 telephone # = 415/788-5701. Postal address = c/o Hal Womack 310 Columbus Avenue #209 San Francisco CA 94133 USA --------------------------------------------------------------------- * = "After a Fair Trial, Of Course" ** = "Racial Personnel Policy" 88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 Curriculum Vitae: First born in March of 1945 on Galveston Island, Texas to Margaret Harris & Capt.Harry Womack,M.D. Winner of Gold Medal in debate and first prize in theology at Jesuit High School in Dallas. Youngest student ever admitted to Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts; on scholarship. Scholarship to the University of Dallas. Nominated for Rhodes Scholarship from the University of Texas in Austin; Junior Fellows Program; as student chairman of the Visiting Fellows Program, I invited the now world-famous author and attorney Mark Lane to come from New York City for his first breakthrough into the national scene at a famous, highly controversial lecture in March of 1964 in the Grand Ballroom in which, to the general astonishment, he demolished the LBJ line on JFK's assassination. President of my pledge class in Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Founder of the University Socialist Committee which conducted path-breaking propaganda on behalf of the Vietnamese against the American war and also for revolutionary China, several years in advance of the world fad for Mao's "little red book". Leader of the first proto-SDS seminar on the history of the Russian revolution and teacher at the "Free University". Treacherously disinherited by my parents for these activities. Arrested in Huntsville in 1965 at a sit-in led by Dr.Martin Luther King's Southern Christian Leadership Conference for the desegregation of the Raven Cafe. B.A. in philosophy 1966. Scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh in advanced political science. Leading speaker for the Anti-War Mobilization in the city. International Fellow & Fellow of the Russian Institute of Columbia University in political science. In 1969-70 I created and taught the school's first graduate seminar on the history of the cold war, recruiting Prof.Zbigniew Brzezinski to co-chair it with me, so that the students could receive academic credit (and so that Zbig could grade the papers). Among other guest speakers for the course, I brought in Tommy Thompson the former ambassador to the Soviet Union and Earl Browder, the head of the American Communist Party from 1935 to 1945. (Soon afterwards David Rockefeller hired Zbig as secretary of his Trilateral Commission and Zbig in turned recruited a certain little-known peanut farmer from Georgia.) In the Spring of 1970 I helped organize graduate students to shut down the campus in protest against the Pentagon's invasion of Cambodia. For several years I was worked in the international spice trade. I attended Law School at U.T. in Austin 1973-74, helping to organize the Fall and Spring demonstrations against Nelson Rockefeller and George Brown, respectively. In 1974 I volunteered for the Army's "Pathfinder" commando program in airborne demolitions with the intention of learning enough to attack the munitions rail transport route between the Red River Arsenal in Texarkana and Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio from whence the C-5A's with their deadly cargoes lifted off to Saigon. Instead I wound up talking openly to the troops during basic training. My colonel busted me on false charges of inciting to mutiny and threatened, if I were to insist on sticking around, to plant heroin in my locker in order to send me to Leavenworth for twenty years. I smoothly accepted an honorable discharge. I returned to campus and helped organize a referendum in March of 1975 in which the 40,000 strong student body voted by a margin of two to one to invite a revolutionary professor from Viet Nam to come to Texas to teach. In 1974 and '75 I was the delegate from Texas to Tom Hayden's Indochina Peace Campaign. In 1977 I worked with the successful campaign in San Diego CA to save Black's Beach for skinny-dipping, probably the nation's largest sky-clad sandy strip. In the 'Seventies I also worked as a longshoreman, ship scraper, shrimper, cook, oil refinery clean-up, loc'y operator in a shit mine, clerk and guard. From 1982 to October 23, 1993 I drove electric trolleys, diesel buses and LRV's for San Francisco's MUNI. On that date I retired with a bang when two armed goons traditionally called "rock rollers" in SF, probably instigated by the federal secret dope police, attacked me and obliged me to defend myself by shooting one of them in the shin. Then Mayor "Bad" Frank Jordan fired me for packing and then District Attorney Arlo "Sam" Smith prosecuted me therefor. Both of these thug lovers lost their jobs in the next election. In that campaign I was the leading volunteer Net-writer for the winners, Willie Brown and Terence Hallinan. For the last two years & counting I have been driving a taxi. At various times between 1979 and 1995 I served as the secretary, treasurer and nightwatchman of the then world-famous San Francisco Go Club, which was located in the old temple at Bush and Laguna Streets in J-town. According to Tokyo and AGA standards, I have earned the rank of amateur master of the third degree ["san dan"] in this supreme oriental art of strategy; on IGS, however, I'm only 2k* :-( Since 1964 I have published poetry, reviews, and essays in hardcopy the DAILY TEXAN, in William Buckley's NATIONAL REVIEW magazine, in the former left-wing NATIONAL GUARDIAN newspaper [NYC], in LA PENSEE of Paris, in the San Francisco BAY GUARDIAN [cover] and in SHUKAN GO of Tokyo, as well as many thousands of lines on the Usenet since 1994. I am a S.O.B. or "silly old bachelor". -- The CoffeeNet (R) The greatest coffee AND the world (R) 744 Harrison Street at 3rd --->>> FREE e-mail and <<<--- San Francisco, CA 94107-1235 --->>> FREE personal WEB page! <<<--- Voice/FAX: (415) 495-7447 e-mail: roastmaster@mail.coffeenet.net -- The CoffeeNet (R) The greatest coffee AND the world (R) 744 Harrison Street at 3rd --->>> FREE e-mail and <<<--- San Francisco, CA 94107-1235 --->>> FREE personal WEB page! <<<--- Voice/FAX: (415) 495-7447 e-mail: roastmaster@mail.coffeenet.net
